Description
Occasionally you may need to print using only the black ink, the following procedure will show you how for Windows.
Solution
When you print using the grayscale option, the printer will continue to access the color ink tanks. For this reason, you may wish to print using only the black ink tank.
If you use a Mac® refer to use only black ink on a Mac .
Notes
-
If you choose to print in black only, the print quality will be sacrificed.

Some color ink will still be used for print head maintenance.

Using grayscale alone does not provide this option and the color inks will still be used.

All ink tanks need to be properly installed to start any print job regardless of the ink color you choose for that specific job.
Get started
Open the Properties / Preferences window for the printer and follow the steps below for your operating system.

Next, follow these steps:
Adjust the driver setting to print using only the black ink
The images below are used as an example. Actual screens may vary depending on the printer model and OS being used.

Select the Main tab.
- Select Plain Paper as the Media Type.
If any other paper type is selected, color ink will be used to create black. -
Select the box for Grayscale Printing.
- Click OK to save the changes.
